Golf Holidays in Marrakech: Airport Transfers and Course Shuttles with Golf Bags
Marrakech is one of Africa’s great golf destinations. How to organise airport transfers with golf bags, daily shuttles to the courses and the best season to play.
With more than a dozen courses, winter sunshine and the snowy High Atlas as a backdrop, Marrakech has become one of the most attractive golf destinations within a few hours' flight of Europe. Golfers come for long weekends with friends, corporate tournaments and week-long trips playing a different course every day. The golf is easy to love; the logistics deserve a little planning — starting with the bulky bag that comes off the oversized luggage belt.
The golf bag challenge
A golf travel bag is long, heavy and awkward. In a standard petit taxi it simply doesn't fit, and even grand taxis struggle with more than one or two. For a group of four golfers with four golf bags and four suitcases, you need a proper vehicle. As a rule of thumb, each golf bag takes roughly the space of two large suitcases. Our recommendations:
- 1–2 golfers: a comfort van, with room to spare.
- 3–4 golfers: a comfort van for light luggage, or a minibus to travel comfortably.
- 5–12 golfers: a VIP minibus with a rear luggage compartment.
- Larger groups: several vehicles, or a minibus plus a luggage van.
Compare vehicles in our article choosing between a van and a minibus and read the van luggage guide.
Airport arrival
Golf bags usually arrive at the oversized baggage area, sometimes after the regular suitcases. Our drivers know this and wait patiently; your flight is tracked, and waiting time is included in our Marrakech airport transfer. Many golf resorts are outside the city — in the Palmeraie, on the Route de l'Ourika or the Route d'Amizmiz — between 15 and 35 minutes from the airport.
Daily shuttles to the courses
If you're staying in one place and playing several courses, the simplest solution is a driver at your disposal or a set of pre-booked shuttles:
- Morning pick-up timed with your tee time — we usually plan to arrive 45 minutes before, so you have time to check in, warm up and visit the pro shop.
- Afternoon return whenever your round and the 19th hole are finished.
- Evening transfers to restaurants in Gueliz, the Hivernage or the Medina.
For groups, a single coordinator handles all movements so tee times are never missed. See our private driver in Marrakech and van hire with driver.
The courses
Marrakech's courses are spread around the city, many with views of the Atlas. Among the best known are the historic Royal Golf Marrakech, Amelkis, Al Maaden, Assoufid, Samanah and Noria, plus courses in the Palmeraie and on the road to the Ourika. Each has its own character: palm-lined fairways, desert-style layouts or modern championship courses. Distances between courses are short — rarely more than 30 minutes — which makes it easy to play a different one each day.
When to play
- October to April is high season: pleasant temperatures, green courses and clear views of the snowy mountains. Book tee times and transport early.
- Late spring is warm and still very playable, especially in the morning.
- Summer is hot; early tee times are essential, and many golfers choose the coast instead.
Combining golf with Agadir
Agadir and Taghazout Bay also offer excellent golf, with ocean views and a milder summer climate. A popular plan is a few days in Marrakech followed by a few days on the coast. We cover the road between the two with our intercity transfers, and also run transfers from Agadir airport.
Corporate tournaments and golf events
For company tournaments, incentive trips and pro-am events, transport becomes a key part of the guest experience. We coordinate airport arrivals, daily shuttles between hotels and courses, evening gala dinners and departures, with branded signs if needed. Read more about group airport transfers for events.
Practical tips for travelling golfers
- Use a hard-shell or well-padded travel bag and protect the club heads.
- Check your airline's sports equipment fees before booking.
- Tell us the number of golf bags when booking so we send the right vehicle.
- Keep shoes and a glove in your hand luggage in case your bag arrives late.
- Bring sun protection, even in winter — the sun is strong.
A sample golf week
- Day 1: arrival, transfer to your resort, dinner.
- Days 2–6: a different course each morning, afternoons by the pool or exploring the Medina.
- Day 7: a final round or a free morning, then transfer to the airport.
Golf in Marrakech is a pleasure from first tee to last putt — as long as the logistics are taken care of. Send us your group size, dates and number of golf bags, and we'll prepare a clear proposal.
