Marrakech and Essaouira, door to door
Essaouira is the Atlantic counterpart of Marrakech: whitewashed ramparts, blue fishing boats, a breezy beach and a relaxed Medina listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The two cities are about 190 km apart, and a private transfer links them in around 2 hours 45 minutes — in either direction, at the time that suits you, with no bus station and no luggage to drag around.

From the airport, straight to the ocean
Most visitors reach Essaouira through Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK), and you don't need to stop in Marrakech at all. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign, and because the airport lies on the western edge of the city, you are on the Essaouira road within minutes. We track your flight, so a delay is never a problem.
Flying into Agadir Al Massira (AGA) instead? The coast road north via Taghazout, Tamri and the argan country is one of the most beautiful drives in Morocco — about 3 hours to Essaouira.
On the road
From Marrakech the road crosses the Haouz plain to Chichaoua, then enters the argan country in the last 50 km. Good reasons to stop:
- Argan cooperatives — women crack the nuts by hand and produce cosmetic and culinary argan oil. A 20-minute visit is fascinating.
- Goats in the trees — from summer to early autumn, goats climb the argan trees to eat the fruit.
- Lunch in Chichaoua — roadside grills serve excellent meat and tagines.
Comfort stops are always possible: just tell your driver.
Arriving in Essaouira
The Medina is pedestrian, so cars cannot enter. Your driver drops you at the gate nearest your riad — Bab Sbaa, Bab Doukkala or the harbour car park — where porters with handcarts take your luggage to the door. On request, we call your riad so that someone meets you there. Beachfront hotels and villas around Diabat, Ghazoua or Sidi Kaouki are served door to door.
Going back to Marrakech
For a flight home from Marrakech, leave Essaouira about 5.5 to 6 hours before take-off (the drive plus airport formalities); your driver confirms the pick-up time the day before. Many travellers combine both cities — Marrakech airport → Essaouira (2–4 nights) → Marrakech → airport — and we handle every leg.

Can you drop us at our riad in the Essaouira Medina?
Cars cannot enter the Medina, so we drop you at the nearest gate (Bab Sbaa, Bab Doukkala or the harbour). Porters with handcarts carry the luggage to your riad, and we can call the riad so someone meets you.
Is the price per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle, fixed in advance, with fuel and tolls included. A comfort van takes up to 7 passengers with luggage; larger groups travel by minibus.
Can we stop on the way?
Yes. Comfort stops are always possible, and many travellers visit an argan cooperative or have lunch in Chichaoua. Just tell your driver.
When should we leave Essaouira for a flight from Marrakech?
