How Much Does a Private Driver Cost in Morocco? Transparent 2026 Pricing
Airport transfers, day trips, daily hire and multi-day tours: what really determines the price of a private driver in Morocco, and how to compare offers fairly.

"How much does it cost?" is the first question most travellers ask about private transport in Morocco — and the answers online can be confusing. Some prices are per person, others per vehicle; some include fuel and tolls, others don't. This article explains, transparently, what determines the price of a private driver in Morocco and gives indicative 2026 prices so you can budget with confidence.
Per vehicle, not per person
The most important principle: private transport is priced per vehicle. Whether you are two or seven in a comfort van, the price is the same. That's why private transport becomes so competitive for families and groups. Always check whether a quote is per vehicle or per person — it changes everything.
The five factors that determine the price
- Distance and route. Fuel and tolls are a major part of the cost. Mountain roads take longer and are more demanding.
- Duration. A transfer, a half day, a full day or a multi-day tour.
- Vehicle type. A comfort van costs less than a Ford Tourneo Custom or a minibus.
- Season and timing. High season and very early or very late transfers can affect availability.
- Extras. Additional stops, waiting time beyond what's included, or special requests.
Indicative prices for 2026
These are typical starting prices for a comfort van (up to 7 passengers) with a professional driver, fuel and tolls included. VIP van and minibus prices are higher.

What should be included
A fair price should include:
- the driver and the vehicle,
- fuel and motorway tolls,
- parking,
- waiting time appropriate to the service (for example, 60 minutes at the airport),
- the driver's meals and accommodation on multi-day tours,
- passenger insurance,
- bottled water and, on request, child seats.
What is normally not included: your meals, hotels and camps, entrance fees, local guides, activities and tips.
The real cost per person
Let's take a day trip to the Ourika Valley at about €60 per comfort van:
- 2 travellers: about €30 each
- 4 travellers: about €15 each
- 6 travellers: about €10 each
For a longer trip like Aït Ben Haddou at around €140:
- 2 travellers: about €70 each
- 4 travellers: about €35 each
- 6 travellers: about €23 each
Compare this with group tours or train tickets plus taxis, and private transport is often similar — with much more comfort and flexibility. We compare both options in private tour vs group tour.
Why some offers are much cheaper
You may find drivers offering prices far below the average. Be cautious. Very low prices can mean:
- an unlicensed driver without passenger insurance,
- an old vehicle without proper maintenance or air conditioning,
- hidden costs (fuel, tolls, waiting) added later,
- commission stops at shops where the driver earns money,
- a driver working excessive hours.
On mountain roads and long distances, the safety and comfort of a professional service are worth paying for. Read road safety in Morocco.
How to compare offers fairly
Ask each company for a written quote and check:
- Is it per vehicle or per person?
- Which vehicle, and how many seats?
- Are fuel, tolls, parking and waiting time included?
- What is the cancellation policy?
- How is payment made — deposit, cash to the driver, card?
Booking early pays off
Prices don't usually change much with the season, but availability does. In spring, autumn, Christmas and Easter, the best vehicles — especially VIP vans and minibuses — are booked weeks in advance. Reserving early guarantees the vehicle you want, and a free-cancellation policy means you don't take any risk if your plans change.
Payment and tipping
Most private drivers in Morocco accept payment in euros or dirhams in cash, and many companies also accept bank transfer or card for advance bookings. Tipping is not compulsory but appreciated for good service — see our guide to tipping and etiquette with your driver.
